Sikhs Share Grief at the AME Church Memorial Service in Charleston, SC

Sunday June 28, 2015, about sixteen Sikh representatives attended the 9:30 AM service at the mother Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, SC, where nine Church goers were shot dead by a white supremacist on June 17, 2015. The Sikh delegation, consisting of three members from Atlanta, GA, six members from Columbia, SC, and another six members of the local Sikh community of Charleston, SC. were recognized by the congregation, while S. Gulbarg Singh and S. Randhir Singh, shared the grief with the victims’ families and expressed unity with the church Pastor and other members to work toward eliminating hate from among the human race. Vice President Joe Biden was also present at that prayer service and Sikh members got a chance to exchange a few words with the Vice President.
