ASC requests everyone to please boycott PTC channels and sign the petition

In a recently held National Panthic meet at Sikh Religious Society of Chicago (SRS), representatives of various Gurdwaras and Sikh Organizations in the USA had deliberated on key Sikh issues. Among the thirteen resolutions, that were unanimously approved to be collectively adopted by all the Sikhs in the US, was the one that directly asked to boycott Parkash Badal’s business interests.

Resolution #8: We resolve to boycott and stop all direct/indirect financial support to Parkash Badal’s political party and all Badal associated/owned businesses like PTC-TV, etc

Corrupt Badal family has totally monopolized many businesses like mining, media and transportation businesses in Punjab. Parkash Badal family owns and operates PTC channels and this anti-Sikh family and their associates have monopolized the cable network in the State in the name of “Fastway”. PTC news is being used as a mouthpiece of the corrupt Badal family. This is impinging on the democratic rights as this channels only show what the government wants and cable TV networks are barred from showing other news channels. Only PTC channels owned by Sukhbir Badal are allowed to live telecast Gurbani at the Golden Temple. It is unfortunate that even the prayers that people world over want to see have been seized by the ruling Badal family. Read more about PTC channel abuse and corruption here:

It is no secret that Badal and his associates are engrossed in repressive, inhumane, and undemocratic treatment of its citizens in Punjab with no regard for human rights or freedom of speech. Just recently, the Badal government led a violent crackdown on innocent protesters, in which two protesters were killed, and hundreds more were seriously wounded. Additionally, the Badal government has tried to suppress the peaceful protest of Bapu Surat Singh and recently arrested many Sikh leaders, unconstitutionally, and denying them fundamental rights like denying their lawyers to meet them. This political family has been involved in countless murders, extortion, and forceful takeovers of legitimately owned businesses and establishments in Punjab, India for many decades. Let us all unite, sign the below petition, boycott the PTC channel and tell our friends to do the same. It is a small action but a very meaningful first step!

American Sikh Council supports and appeals everyone to Boycott the PTC Channels and sign the petition started by the Sikh Religious Society of Chicago:

Tell DISH NETWORK to STOP supporting human rights abusers!

On behalf of the tens of thousands of Dish Network customers that purchase the ‘Punjabi Mega Pack’, which is a part of Dish’s impressive and much appreciated international channels selection, an urgent request is made to remove the PTC family of channels, namely, PTC PUNJABI, PTC NEWS, and PTC Chak De from this channel package.

The PTC channels are owned and operated by a political family in Punjab, India, that is engrossed in repressive, inhumane, and undemocratic treatment of its citizens. Just recently, the political family that owns and operates these channels under the banner of PTC, led a violent crackdown on innocent protesters, in which two protesters were killed, and hundreds more were seriously wounded. This political family has been involved in countless murders, extortion, and forceful takeovers of legitimately owned businesses and establishments in Punjab, India for many decades. The continuation of these repressive tactics and events have forced the Sikh and Punjabi communities that subscribe to these channels to demand these channels be removed from the lineup of Dish offerings. Additionally, the PTC NEWS channel is used as a propaganda tool by the repressive regime. If Dish values its customers, who number in the tens of thousands for the Punjabi Mega Pack, and only supports channel owners that uphold American values of human rights and democratic values, then it is prudent that Dish acts swiftly on this request.
