Sikhs hold a July 4th ‘Cultural Event’ in Selma, CA on July 5, 2017

Sikh community leaders from greater Fresno Valley, from Clovis to Selma and the surrounding areas got together to celebrate our nations Independence Day – July 4th by organizing a ‘Cultural Event’ and showcasing the various dances and sharing their food with the larger community. The main event was held on July 5th and part of the event included teenage girls who performed a really energizing ‘Gidda’ a type of folk dance originating from the land of Punjab.

The Sikh Council of Central California (SCCC) held the event under the banner of the American Sikh Council with active participation by Mayor of Selma, Michael Derr, members of the City Council and other officials.

This fun filled event was held at a Chukchansi Park in downtown Fresno, CA.

The members of the Sikh Council of Central California must be credited with continuing involvement of its members with the larger community so that they are engaged in a positive manner creating greater goodwill and understanding.
