American Sikh Council (ASC) Vice-President S.Jasbir Kaur led and initiated the fund drive on behalf of ‘ASC’ for the hurricane disaster that occurred in Puerto Rico.

In late September, hurricanes Maria shredded the beautiful island of Puerto Rico, leaving devastated homes, businesses and families behind. Among those who suffered most were family members of some of S.Jasbir Kaur’s students.

The American Sikh Council rallied together and the board members were able to raise $3,000 for the vicitms.

The $3,000 check from the American Sikh Council, [the Voice of Sikhs in America], was sent to Caritas Puerto Rico, a non-profit organization in San Juan, that helps the poor and those in need. Some of the other programs that Caritas Puerto Rico does is; assistance with food and responding to emergencies and natural disasters.

S.Jasbir Kaur stated, “This is least we can do for such nice and genuine people who are like our brothers and sisters.”
