Over a hundred of Sikhs which included adults and children, representing the Guru Nanak Sikh Society of the Delaware Valley (GSSDV), Pine Hill, NJ actively participated in the Xmas parade held in downtown Pine Hill, NJ on the evening of December 3, 2017.
The Guru Nanak Sikh Society of the Delaware Valley, Pine Hill, NJ is also an institutional member of the American Sikh Council (ASC) and regularly participates in local community events. The enthusiastic members of Pine Hill Gurdwara have been part of the Xmas parade for the second time.
The Xmas parade started around 6 pm in the evening with the weather being a little cold. Fire trucks all decked out with colored lights and flags, classic cars, Harley motorcycles, veterans, and many other community organizations participated in the Pine Hill Xmas parade. The parade festivities ran for nearly two hours with children having a really fun time, especially being part of the larger community.
The local Sikhs had several pickup trucks all lit up with colored lights including an open jeep playing Bhangra music. The sangat members were giving water, juice, candy and chocolates to sightseers and local community members.
Last year the Sikh floats won the 1st prize and the cash award was donated to a local charity.
The Gurdwara management and leadership must be congratulated for their foresight for their regular participation and being engaged by doing their civic duty and being a part of the local fabric of society.
