On May 8, 2018 American Sikh Council (ASC) representative Kavneet Singh who also serves on the Religious Leaders Council of Greater Philadelphia gathered at the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy for their spring meeting. While together, they engaged in a group dialogue, heard stories of challenges and triumphs from several ‘Zones of Peace’ communities across the tristate area.
Leaders from the Sikh, Jewish, Muslim, Christian and Baha’i faith were present representing their religious communities and brought issues of mutual importance to the table for discussion.
Later the entire inter-faith contingent, were led on a tour of the beautiful Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Built in and around 1960 out of solid concrete, it caters to a large Russian-Ukrainian community of Philadelphia, with many driving from as far as 30 miles away to attend services.
The regular meeting and networking has help build relationships, trust and understanding as we all need each other in the end to forge a better world for our children.
