On May 12, 2018 The Sikh community from the Guru Nanak Sikh Society, Cleveland, OH and the Guru Gobind Singh Society, Bedford, OH gurdwaras arranged a Nagar Kirtan and Sikh Parade at the Public Square in downtown Cleveland, Ohio. A ‘Sikh Awareness and Appreciation parade’ was held specifically to educate the general public about the Sikh Americans.
The parade started with Punj Pyaras in front followed by Shri Guru Granth Sahib in Palki on the float and Bhaiji and others doing Kirtan alongside.
More than 1200 Sikh Americans (men and women) followed with banners of Sikh awareness. Also over 1500 brochures about the Sikh Faith were distributed to the surrounding spectators. Langer was served to everyone at the conclusion of the parade. Lots of Police officers on motorcycles and horses escorted the procession in a very organized and dignified manner.
