Sikhs of Bakersfield visited the Mesa Verde Detention facility on Saturday May 19, 2018 and served thirty people including eight women detainees. Out of the thirty men there were few Hindu Gujarati men and out of the eight women; four were Hindu Gujarati.

A diwan was held which included kirtan, path and gurmat discussion. Kada parshad was distributed and motivational speeches were given to the attendees. Simran Singh who led and organized this event also distributed literature, newspapers and books to the audience.

The American Sikh Council (ASC) assisted in providing literature and brochures which were distributed to all the attendees.

These young Sikh American sewadars are doing a great service through their committed sewa and following the ‘Guru’s advice’ of helping others in need! (Note: Photographs are not allowed inside these facilities).
