American Sikh Council (ASC) President Dr.Gurdas Singh was one of the organizers who led an interfaith gathering at the John Caroll University, University Heights, OH on Sunday June 16, 2019 from 3 – 5 pm.

The Cleveland Conference of Religions 2019 convocation has an objective to spread precise information about various faiths. The theme for this conference “Unity or Oneness” is a philosophical concept that touches the human experience in many dimensions and ways. Its opposite is the ‘many’. Oneness for some means that God created all human beings as one humanity, for others the oneness finds its source in the other ways.

There were over thirty participants representing the Sikh, Muslim, Buddhist, Christian, Jain, Hindu and Baha’i faiths.

Dr.Gurdas Singh is also the current President of the Cleveland Conference of Religions. He welcomed everybody and spoke about the ‘oneness’ quoting from the Sri Guru Granth Sahib, the revealed word of the ‘the ONE’ and how it is inclusive of all humanity.

The other presenters for this conference were Dr. Zeki Saritoprak (Muslim); Rabbi Noah Bickart (Jewish) and Ven. Ying-Fa (Buddhist).

Each of the various speakers sought to find inspiration from their respective traditions to explain and educate the audience on the ‘Oneness’ and unity of God.

One of the many premises of the event was that each religion or faith tradition has its own path to ‘God’, but they all lead to the ‘ONE’!

Attendees asked questions and shared thoughts after each of the presentations. The attendees agreed on continuing these conversations to build better understanding among the disparate faiths.

Brochures for the Sikh Faith and Sikh Scripture were also distributed to the audience who appreciated the information.
