American Sikh Council (ASC) representatives Karanveer Singh, Sherveer Singh and Amrita Kaur participated in the Black Lives Matter (BLM) protest held at the Echelon field in Voorhees, NJ on June 7, 2020.

There were over 175 people including local residents gathered and many among them were young and with families. The mayor of the town Mr. Michaël Mignogna also participated in the event.

Karanveer Singh spoke about how no American can be disrespected and we must rise together to build a better America for all. He made it a point to stress that ‘we all’ need to do our part and call out the bad apples everywhere. He stated that we cannot be bystanders but need to step up and become upstanders and help those who are oppressed on a regular basis by society.

Many young people spoke up at this event in solidarity of the BLM movement. This two-hour event ended at I pm very peacefully.
