Tejwant Singh, Lafayette, CO selected to the HR Commission

The American Sikh Council (ASC) extends their heartiest congratulations to Tejwant Singh of Lafayette, Colorado to be selected as a member on the city’s Human Rights Commission.

The position not only looks at ongoing issues of human rights violations but also past injustices which are brought to their attention. Tejwant Singh is a businessman, an active community leader and a family man. Volunteerism and activism run in the family as his young son was recently elected to the city council also.

Tejwant Singh stated, “I am excited to serve and collaborate with residents of Lafayette. Together, we will work to make our community more inclusive and aware of social injustices. I look forward to working with diverse populations to help our city progress.” He further stated, “I am committed to establishing a ‘Federal Registry for Hate Crimes’ in America.”

Lafayette City Council created the Human Rights Commission (HRC) in 2016. The HRC is committed to evaluating City of Lafayette government, programs and processes with an inclusive lens, with a goal of fostering equity, social justice, and freedom from fear of persecution based on race, religious belief, country of origin, sexual or gender identity, physical ability or age.

Once again, we wish Tejwant Singh the very best and hope he shines a light on all human right violations, wherever they may occur.
