Sardar Daljit Singh (Jawa) of Topeka, Kansas is a retired engineer from the Kansas Water Office, the water resources planning department of the state of Kansas. A humble servant of the Guru who at the young age of 83 is still researching and writing on the Sri Guru Granth Sahib. He is a former member of the American Sikh Council board and served for two terms.
Sardar Daljit Singh spent seventeen years working on it, and finally published all the seven volumes in 2016. All the headings are under ‘It is the same light’! He is now working on the second editions of these volumes.
He has also published a two-volume set of ‘Hukumnamas’ all taken from pages 300 to 1,000 of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib. The concise version of the above was translated into Spanish by Sri Hari Kaur Khalsa, under the heading ‘Orden Del Dia’. His book titled ‘Unity in the Diversity of Different Religions’ is another beautiful step in approaching all religions with a positive outlook, while looking for those attributes which are common in all religions.
Finally, his own personal journey under the grace of the ‘Guru’ titled ‘In His Hands’ is about his own life’s journey of the last 83 years and how the Guru and God has been helping and protecting him at every important moment of his life.
Sardar Daljit Singh (Jawa) a hardworking, humble man who is soft-spoken with no ill-will towards anyone, in many ways is a living example of a good ‘Sikh’. The extraordinary effort which he has expended towards bringing the translations of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib in English and free verse is remarkable sewa to help the panth and especially, our youth in the diaspora in better understanding of our faith by non-Sikhs. May the ‘Guru’ keep Sardar Daljit Singh in his care always!
